Within the complex of the Palace of Venaria, in the eighteenth-century stables spaces designed by Benedetto Alfieri, the conservation and restoration center "La Venaria Reale" - Institute for Higher Education and Research for the preservation of cultural heritage, has been founded in 2006. Navigation on Lake Como has ancient origins , the first documentation of shipbuilding dates back to the XVI-XVII century. Through centuries, tradition never prevented constant technological upgrading; indeed, in the trade practice was usual to design and build each boat as a unique and new, never the same as above, in the same time preserving the memory of ancient traditional methods, perhaps crossing them with other elements.
