This splendid building and the religious communities that have lived here since it was first built, belong to the history of Gubbio. The city of Gubbio is situated in the green heart of Umbria. Its ancient stones and architecture are among the highest testimonies of the luminous and refined Medieval Age. Secluded, yet near to the centre of the city, today the Park Hotel ai Cappuccini is an harmonious blend of an antique setting and modern comforts.

The sensitiveness towards arts, always showed by the owners during the years, has allowed them to collect a considerable and very interesting number of works of art, which contribute to the very precious fittings of the hotel structure, such as the 15th century frescos, Renaissance paintings, Flemish tapestries and furniture, along with very modern artistic expressions, sculptures and posters, that enrich its austere conventual architecture.The Monasticum, the Convent Pharmacy, was born from the ancient monastic tradition of “hortus sanitatis” where medicinal plants where cultivated under the direction of apothecary monks, who had the task of curing the ill and making medicines: many of the traditional products created in Umbrian monasteries as well as in nearby regions can be found here. There is a selection of teas, remedies, and spirits made following ancient recipes such as nocino (walnut liquor), laurus (bay leaf liquor), energetic spirits and sleeping spirits.
