Being Responsible
It is no coincidence that Badrutt's Palace Hotel has a five star deluxe rating. Standards are much higher in the elegant resort of St. Moritz, where luxury and lifestyle are taken for granted, just as much as its untouched nature. Distinguished guests from around the world consider this their second home due to the exclusive hospitality offered by this imposing and beautifully cared for symbol of St. Moritz since 1896. Personalities from the world of politics and business, royalty, prominent figures from the arts and music spend time together every year in Badrutt’s Palace Hotel.
The 115 years of hospitality in the centre of the Engadin Alps, began with Johannes Badrutt. After purchasing the former Hotel Beau Rivage in 1892, his son Caspar contracted the renowned architects, Chiodera & Tschudi to convert it to the Palace Hotel. To begin with it was a recreational destination only during the summer months, but this once so peaceful St. Moritz developed into an elegant centre for Alpine winter sports, after Johannes Badrutt made a bet with English summer guests. Since then, the development of the Palace Hotel has been part of the Badrutt family. After the opening celebration in 1896, many of the family members have worked constantly to sustain the hotel economically, as well as to preserve and extend this splendid mountain hotel in Engadin. The historical house, Chesa Veglia, was purchased and converted in 1935, in order to offer guests of Badrutt’s Palace Hotel culinary delights outside the hotel’s restaurants.

How you will eat
In 1936 Badrutt’s Palace Hotel had this historic farmhouse in the centre of St. Moritz converted into a unique meeting point for gourmets and night owls which can be enjoyed by day or by night. The rustic and cosy ambience of the «Chesa Veglia» has always attracted VIPs who like to frequent one of the three restaurants or two bars, to indulge in international specialties or refreshing drinks. The diversity of the menus has made «Chesa Veglia» a popular destination for locals and visitors.
The cosy «Polo Bar» is situated in the farmhouse’s former smoke room and invites guests to aperitifs and after-dinner cocktails following a dinner in one of «Chesa Veglia's» restaurants. The fabulous drawings and fairy tale pictures of the Engadin artist, Carigiet, decorate the walls of the eponymous «Bar Carigiet» and add an authenticity and charm of the magical world of the Engadin mountains.
The «Pizzeria Heuboden» offers its guests original Italian classics. In the «Patrizier Stuben» Swiss and international specialties await sophisticated connoisseurs and in the «Grill Chadafö», which like the «Polo Bar» is only open in the winter season, you can enjoy an elegant dinner after an eventful day. The «Chesa Veglia» offers first class service and exquisite delicacies in the ambience of a former Engadin farmhouse.
The wellness choice
Due to the tradition and history of the Badrutt's Palace Hotel makes us responsible, not only the conservation of the historical substance of the hotel, but also for the modernization and extension of the hotel facilities. After several years of substantial and extravagant renovations, Badrutt's Palace's Hotel team under Martha Wiedmann’s direction, has completely remodeled the «Palace Wellness» into an true wellness oasis.
Inspired by the natural beauty and grace of the Engadin Alps, a retreat has been created which incorporates the natural surroundings into the holistic approach of the «Palace Wellness». Through the use of local cembran pine wood, San Bernardino Silver from the San Bernardino Pass and with the expertise of local trades and businesses, Badrutt's Palace Hotel accentuates its affinity to the picturesque and unique surroundings that has made this luxurious mountain hotel in the heart of Switzerland so famous.
And in terms of sustainability, Badrutt's Place Hotel is forging a new path. That luxury and lifestyle need not be detrimental to the environment has been proven by the ecological and innovative modernization of the in-house heating system. This uses the nearby Lake St. Moritz as an energy supplier and has reduced the CO2 emissions to the benefit of the Engadin air quality. Guests at Badrutt’s Palace Hotel can therefore enjoy the saunas, steam baths and pools with a clear conscience and in harmony with nature.
Within the overall concept of «Palace Wellness», Badrutt's Palace Hotel combines several treatments and applications which are beneficial to the balancing and stabilizing of a healthy body and mind. The «Palace Wellness» offers luxurious therapeutic treatments in the «Treatment Centre», a modern «Fitness Centre» and the «Palace Spa/Wet Zone» with its wet room, indoor pool and heated outdoor pool. A multi-functional outdoor sports area and tennis courts are converted into a natural ice rink during the winter season. In the exclusive «Kids' Club Palazzino» children are well cared for while their parents enjoy a light lunch in «La Diala» or relax with one of the many treatments. |
