SIR RICHARD BRANSON'S MOROCCAN RETREAT

Perched dramatically on a hilltop in Morocco surrounded by the peaks of the High Atlas Mountains is luxury hotel Kasbah Tamadot. Owned by Richard Branson, it has been filled with treasures and antiques from India and Morocco, making this a unique North African retreat.

Being responsible

Kasbah Tamadot and Virgin Unite (the Virgin Group's entrepreneurial foundation) work hand in hand to improve living standards in the communities around the property. This effort is spearheaded by Eve Branson, Richard's mum. The Eve Branson Foundation aims to help the local people in the long term by setting up sustainable enterprises which so far have included a carpet workshop and a craft house run and managed by locals. When you visit Kasbah Tamadot you can purchase a selection of these handmade items in the Virgin Unite gift shop just behind the tennis courts.

The area around the hotel is predominantly inhabited by the Berber people who make up 90% of the work force at Kasbah Tamadot.

The Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO) is responsible for promoting and marketing Morocco as a destination within Morocco and abroad.

How you will reside

There are several categories of suites at Kasbah Tamadot including our three-bedroom Master Suite, located at the far end of the stunning infinity pool - ideal for families travelling together. All suites include either a terrace or balcony, and the Master Suite comes with a private swimming pool.

Each of the six Berber Tented Suites comes complete with its own private deck and plunge pool offering fantastic views of the Atlas Mountains.

How you will eat

With its intimate fireside bar and breathtaking terrace views, the stunning Kanoun Restaurant serves delicious local and international cuisine. The food combines local and international flavours, with homegrown herbs and vegetables from the Kasbah Tamadot gardens.

Amenities

Kasbah Tamadot is the perfect hideaway as guests can spend time being pampered in the SPA that offers many different treatments. There is also an infinity pool to relax by, tennis courts and beautiful gardens to explore. Other activities include mule-riding to the Berber hamlet on the opposite hillside for some mint tea, guided excursions to the nearby Ourika valley for a fully-fledged hike or a 4x4 trip across the desert

The wellness choiche

The Asounfou SPA, meaning "to relax" in Berber, offers a full range of treatments for both men and women using exclusive products chosen for their pureness and quality. For a true Moroccan experience try a Hammam, where the skin is deeply cleansed, purified and softened with the traditional weekly Moroccan cleansing ritual.
