The Enviroment:
UMBRIA – Assisi
Assisi represents a unique example of continuity of a city-sanctuary within its environmental setting from its Umbrian-Roman and medieval origins to the present, represented in the cultural landscape, the religious ensembles, systems of communication, and traditional land use. The Basilica of San Francesco is an outstanding example of a type of architectural ensemble that has significantly influenced the development of art and architecture. The interchange of artistic and spiritual message of the Franciscan Order has significantly contributed to developments in art and architecture in the world. Assisi received the prestigious UNESCO designation.
Being Responsible
Experience of Heritage is a kind of responsibility towards culture, history and architecture. The rooms of the “Historical Mansion San Crispino” hosted three Confraternities from the 14th until the 20th century: Fraternita dei Disciplinati di S. Maria Maggiore o del Vescovado (XIV-XVIII century); Confraternita di S. Biagio (XV-XVI century); Confraternita dei SS. Crispino e Crispiniano (XVIII-XX century). Above the main entrance door (entrance door of the old Confraternity) – which included houses and a church - around the year 1330 a religious fresco was painted by an anonymous follower of the Expressionist Master of St. Clare; the fresco shows a "Madonna with Baby between St. Francis and St. Clare” and, in the intrados, the "Mystical Lamb" e "St. Biagio and John the Baptist".
”L’Orto di Fra Crispino” which follow a passion for genuine things. From this love and following the most ancient local traditions were born the extra virgin olive oil, wine, vegetables, jams and honey. One of the holdings in fact produces on its land horticultural crops and fruit, in addition to having a small herd of bees, from which the property can obtain a certain amount of honey. We propose honey chestnut, with dark amber hue red, smell very intense, distinctive, pungent. It is the most honey rich in minerals and that is very popular with sportsmen. A very special combination is with dairy products and cheeses.
How you will reside
Historical Mansions – Le Dimore di San Crispino In the very heart of Assisi, just a few metres from St. Clare’s square, you see an ancient 14th century stone arch to your left with a massive wooden Franciscan door of the 18th century. Just above the arch there is a shrine dating back to 1330 portraying Our Lady and Jesus, St. Francis, St. Clare and other two Saints, St. Biagio and St. John the Baptist, by the same painter who decorated St. Damiano cloister (another very important religious monument in Franciscan history). You are in an ancient but perfectly preserved structure with all the comforts you may desire for your stay. You can sense ancient memories in one of the 7 independent apartments named after the elements of St. Francis’ “Canticle of the Creatures”: Frate foco (Brother Fire), Madre Terra (Mother Earth), Sora Luna e le Stelle (Sister Moon and Stars), Sora Acqua (Sister Water), Frate Vento (Brother Wind), Frate Sole (Brother Sun) and Beatitudo (Beatitude).
