Alila’s environmental vision towards responsible tourism lies not only in our management philosophy for a sustainable business, but also in the knowledge that hotels globally contribute to major waste and pollution.
Continually striving to improve the environmental design, management and operation of our properties, our sustainable actions are focused on:
- reducing our consumption of energy and water
- reducing waste
- switching all paper usage to 100% recycled paper and using other recycled resources wherever practical
- sourcing locally for products and services to reduce costs of transportation and the resulting carbon emissions, while benefiting local communities
- working with suppliers and travel partners who adopt sustainable business practices
- enabling our guests to explore and enjoy the natural environment in ways that are unintrusive
Green Globe Certification
In May 2007, Alila Ubud and Alila Manggis became the first of our properties to achieve Green Globe certification, the highest environmental standard for the travel and tourism industry, meeting benchmark standards in energy efficiency, waste and water management, recycling, and contributions to the community. All of our other existing hotels and resorts are also currently working towards this certification.
Environmental sustainability is also built into the design of our ultra luxury all-villa resorts. Alila Villas Uluwatu in Bali, opening in April 2009, is on track to achieve Green Globe design and build accreditation. It will be the first such project in Indonesia to achieve this. Alila Villas Hadahaa in the Maldives, which is also slated to open mid-2009, achieved the Green Globe ‘Building Planning and Design Standard’ Certified Status in August 2008.
Going Carbon Neutral
Alila has committed to becoming carbon neutral, first through our head office then throughout all Alila properties. Working with The GreenAsia Group, a specialist carbon management company in Asia, we have embarked on the process of measuring, reducing and offsetting our greenhouse gas emissions. In the long term, we will also look towards creating programs that enable guests to enjoy carbon neutral holidays.

Cotta
Our semi-covered open air restaurant featuring “Tasting Style” daily rotating breakfast menus, highlighting local fare and fun twists on classic breakfast favorites. Breakfast at Cotta also allows you to try our wide selections of specialty coffees and teas, including the world renowned Kopi Luwak. Light fare is the theme for lunch at Cotta, with entrée style salads, traditional and non-traditional thin crust pizzas, as well as authentic local dishes. With nightfall, Cotta dons crisp white table clothes to provide a truly unique Indonesian dining experience. Chef Ashton and his team have taken classic Indonesian dishes and while preserving the authentic flavors substituted the best possible ingredients.
Coast
Set mere steps away from Kelating’s black-sand beach, Coast offers a truly unique dining setting, featuring Chef Ashton’s signature ‘ingredient-driven’ cuisine. Utilizing the freshest products available, varied techniques, and offering playful combinations, Chef Ashton and his team create a harmony of flavors and textures with each dish. Chef’s tasting menus are always available as the ideal way to experience Coast’s fare. Coast also provides amazing locations for our hands-on cooking class, sunset cocktails or pull up a chair at our open kitchen and have our culinary team tailor make your meal.

Alila Villas Soori has brought new meaning to stylish, luxurious and yet relaxed beachfront living.
All the villas in this luxury all-pool villa property were sensitively designed to maximise views of the surrounding beach, sea and paddy fields, while still maintaining a sense of privacy and shelter. Interconnected spaces create a harmonious flow from the interior to exterior space. Buildings were orientated in a way to maximize views to the beach, the sea or the paddy fields while maintaining a sense of privacy and shelter.
Alila Villas Soori comprises of 15 one-bedroom Beach Villa, 15 one-bedroom Ocean Villa, 8 one-bedroom Terrace Villas as well as 10 residential villas. Each villa is accompanied by its very own private pool and in-villa Alila hospitalities, such as dedicated villa host service, a gourmet bar, espresso coffee and tea making facilities, 24-hour in-villa dining, LCD televisions, Apple TV and iPod, double vanity for HIS and HER with complete range of Alila’s signature bath amenities.
